About Cat.1 and Cat.1 bis

Bis of Cat.1 bis comes from a Latin word indicating again, and bis is placed after Cat.1 to imply that it is a secondary derivative based on the traditional Cat.1 capability. Compared with the first-generation LTE definition in 3GPP Release 8 in 2009, Cat.1 mentioned in the May 2020 article by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is no longer a narrow definition of the first-generation LTE. Cat.1 bis indicates true single antenna, which means that a module can be smaller in size, lower in power consumption, and less in cost. Cat.1 bis can help achieve rapid deployment with almost zero reconstruction of live 4G networks.
